A selection of the finest Art Deco pieces endowed with original provenance form an integral part of this sale in Paris. These include a unique edition of the ‘table extensible modèle de luxe’ (opposite below), designed by Charlotte Perriand and displayed the first exhibition of the Union des Artistes Modernes in Paris in 1930. It has remained in the family of celebrated French composer Jean Rivier ever since. Also in the sale are a pair of lacquered folding doors by Jean Dunand (opposite top), designed for the architect Robert Mallet-Stevens whose heirs have consigned this piece. Other pieces include a chandelier by Alberto Giacometti, which has never before appeared at auction; in addition to designs by Jean Michel Frank and other artists from the 1950s such as Jean Prouvé, Jean Royère and Mathieu Mategot
